Marine natural products as antifouling molecules – a mini-review (2014–2020)
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the present review, 182 antifouling (AF) natural products from marine microorganisms, algae and invertebrates reported August 2014 to May 2020 are presented. Amongst these compounds, over half were isolated marine-derived including 70 compounds fungi 31 bacteria. The structure-relationship of some is also briefly discussed. Based on work reported, a general workflow was drafted refine procedures for commercialization any novel AF compounds. Finally, butenolide, which considered potential environmentally friendly antifoulant, used as case study show involved in compound aspect discovery, structure optimization, toxicity, stability, mechanism coating incorporation, highlight current challenges future perspectives research.

Mini-Review: Antifouling Natural Products from Marine Microorganisms and Their Synthetic Analogs
Biofouling causes huge economic loss and generates serious ecological issues worldwide. Marine coatings incorporated with antifouling (AF) compounds are the most common practices to prevent biofouling. With a ban of organotins and an increase in the restrictions regarding the use of other AF alternatives, exploring effective and environmentally friendly AF compounds has become an urgent demand ...
متن کاملAntimalarial natural products: a review
Objective: Malaria is an infectious disease commonplace in tropical countries. For many years, major antimalarial drugs consisted of natural products, but since 1930s these drugs have been largely replaced with a series of synthetic drugs. This article tries to briefly indicate that some plants which previously were used to treat malaria, as a result of deficiencies of synthetic drugs, have rev...
متن کاملNatural products as antifouling compounds: recent progress and future perspectives.
Since early 2008, an increasing number of countries have ratified an international treaty to ban the application of antifouling (AF) coatings based on organotin compounds (eg tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin). As a result, the demand for environmentally friendly, non-toxic or low-toxicity AF compounds and technologies (green AF agents) has become an urgent reality. Marine coatings based on Cu...
متن کاملMarine natural products as anticancer drugs.
The chemical and biological diversity of the marine environment is immeasurable and therefore is an extraordinary resource for the discovery of new anticancer drugs. Recent technological and methodologic advances in structure elucidation, organic synthesis, and biological assay have resulted in the isolation and clinical evaluation of various novel anticancer agents. These compounds range in st...
